Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, United States
Arthur Ashe Stadium is a tennis field at Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in Queens, New York City. Part of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, it is the main field of the US Open tennis competition and has a capacity of 23,771, making it the largest tennis ground in the world. The stadium is named after Arthur Ashe (1943–1993), winner of the initial 1968 US Open, the first in which professionals could participate. The original stadium design, completed in 1997, had not included a roof. After suffering consecutive years of event delays from extreme weather, a new lightweight retractable roof was completed in 2016.
