The City Ground, West Bridgford, United Kingdom
The City Ground is the historic home of Nottingham Forest Football Club, nestled on the banks of the River Trent in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Opened in 1898, it stands as one of the oldest and most iconic stadiums in English football, rich with tradition and memories from more than a century of competitive action. The stadium is named in recognition of its relationship with the city, and its picturesque riverside location—directly across from Meadow Lane, home of local rivals Notts County—makes it one of the most scenic grounds in the country. The Brian Clough Stand, named after Forest’s legendary double European Cup-winning manager, is a tribute to one of football’s most iconic figures. Throughout its history, the City Ground has hosted major domestic and international matches, including Euro ’96 fixtures. Plans have been approved to modernize and expand the stadium—starting with a new Peter Taylor Stand—which will increase capacity and bring state-of-the-art facilities while preserving the venue's classic character.
